OpenArena Editor's Review
Open Arena takes the most out of the graphic engine of Quake 3 and offers us a bloody battle for the survival throughout different scenarios and game modes. Open Arena includes a character system controlled by the computer, yes they are called bots and allow you to play offline as if they were real people playing on the other side of the net. OpenArena 0.8.8 for Windows, Linux, and Mac. An icon used to represent a menu that can be toggled by interacting with this icon. Jun 22, 2020 Starting on June 25, 2020, players will be able to download MTG Arena for macOS through the Epic Games Store. Our macOS release will feature full cross-platform support in parity with our Windows client, including the upcoming release of Core Set 2021. Open Arena 1.2 for Mac is free to download from our application library. This software for Mac OS X is a product of OA Team. Our built-in antivirus scanned this Mac download and rated it as virus free. The program is included in Games.
OpenArena is a first person shooter licensed under GPL.Open Downloads On Mac
OpenArena, as Quake did, focuses on multiplayer LAN and Internet deathmatches. The real action starts on Internet servers. You can pick up weapons from the ground, power-ups, armor and even special abilities like invisibility. OpenArena is a fast playing game, so the user doesn't always have time for switching to the last, more powerful, gun picked up on the way. By default, the game will automatically select it for you. In my test, I joined an Internet server for a few moments. Hours passed until I quit. The game-play is quite addictive. Internet games are fast even if you have a slow connection. I wasn't able to create a local area network game to play with other Mac users, but we managed to find an empty on-line server and took the fight over there.
Design and graphics are good, but not realistic. The whole game is fantasy like. The arenas where the action really happens aren't big, which means that if more than 10 players sign in you get a slaughter. Special gun effects are quite impressive for an open source game. In-game menus are Quake III style. You also get a voice that tells you things during a game the deathmatch status.
Pluses: free, good graphics and special effects, exciting multiplayer deathmatches.
In conclusion: If you like Quake, fast first person shooters, or just looking for a great free game to play with your friends then OpenArena is suitable for the job. You can also try other free first person shooter like Nexuiz or Sauerbraten.
version reviewed: 0.7 OpenArena is a community-produced deathmatch FPS based on GPL idTech3 technology.
There are many game types supported including Free For All, Capture The Flag, Domination, Overload, Harvester, and more.
Uses the OpenGL 1.x graphics API.
Happy New Year!
Web Server Going Down For Rebuild Monday May 18th @ 6pm CDT
Hello all, you probably rarely hear from me, but I am the hosting provider for this website. I wanted to let everyone on here know that our primary server is going to be going down for a complete rebuild tomorrow Monday May 18th, 2015 @ 6pm CDT. This downtime is expected to last at least 4 hours. However, depending how things get shuffled around, this site may be moving to the alternate server which would reduce the downtime significantly. If this site is on the list to be transferred, I will keep you all posted.
OpenArena Community Mappack Volume 1 v3 Re-Release
Mac Os X Snow Leopard For Vista
Due to some certain problems, first with a pair of bugs and then with a non-Free asset, the OpenArena Community Mappack Volume 1 had to be, well, repackaged. The good thing is that this time the 100% of it is still GPLv2-compliant. Server admins who are going to use the pack should delete the old versions of this pack (and if you were using betas, those as well) and use this new version instead. Likewise, people who's going to mirror this pack must use this version and delete the older ones.
And, in the name of the OACMP team, sorry for all of the inconveniences!

Site theme change
UPDATE: It has been reverted.
Thanks for the feedback!
I've temporarily changed the theme of the site to gather opinions about it.
It's not permanent; the site will return to its old azure self in a week.
Also, Neko's in the random header. She's still not done unfortunately, all the attempts at rigging her so far have been bad.
